Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I maintain a diverse and well-rounded outlook on people, situations, and life. My mother is a prolific, multi-media artist, graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago. My father, a successful Project Manager specializing in city planning. Both of them nurtured me into a logical, creative, inspiring young man that yearns to bring out the best in others. I don't know how to thank them enough. At first, I wanted to be Superman (age 5), and was, as you can see. Then, I wanted to be Jim Carrey (age 10). Finally, after inheriting a sea-foam green Fender Stratocaster from my sister (age 15), I wanted to play music. After learning how to play popular songs, I started to write my own. The emotionally driven, sonic power of song writing was slowly revealed bar by bar, note by note. Never had I known a more clear cut way of controlling how/what the listener is feeling.
During my junior year of high school, everyone completed "career interest tests". These surveys are designed to uncover what each student truly wants to do in college, and eventually in life. My results always came back with musical/creative influences. Surprise, surprise! Honestly, I did not need these tests to tell me what I am interested in...I already knew. When all of my other friends were looking into staying local and attending the University of Texas, I personally felt like moving away from home and getting a fresh perspective on life.
After finding Ex'pression College for Digital Arts under a google search for "music production schools", I knew that audio was my calling. The curriculum blends my passion for creating awesome sounding projects, with practical tech-knowledge and legitimate career paths. While there, I was a peer mentor for new students, a teacher's assistant, and a drop-in tutor for general education and Sound Arts courses. Upon graduating, I became part of the Ex'pression Honor Society for maintaining a GPA of 3.75. The best memory I have was playing with Bullets Can't Kill Danny in the battle of the bands competition (we came in third place out of ten).
Moving to the Bay Area from Austin, TX was easily the best decision I have ever made in my life. I am more aware of my effect on others, their effect on me, and on track for a successful career in audio engineering. Still, my fundamentals haven't changed a whole lot: I love to make people smile, laugh, and learn...hopefully all at once!
